Watercolor by Leroy D. Vandam, M.D. ©1994, The Wood Library-Museum of Anesthesiology

There is confusion over the exact birthdate, August 9th or 19th of William Morton, because no offical record was made. The original Morton House was a large, square old-fashioned wooden house on a farm that was deeded to William Thomas Green Morton's mother, Rebecca, by her father, John Stevens.
