Careers in Anesthesiology: Autobiographical Memoirs, Volume VI, 2001.

Kathryn E. McGoldrick, M.D., Editor.

Thus Did My Energy Flow by B. Raymond Fink, M.D. ; Career as a Calling:  A Life’s Course in Compassion by Luke Masahiko Kitahata, M.D., Ph.D. ; This World Has Many Turns by J. Roger Maltby, M.B. ;  Anesthesia in Private Practice, 1961-1998 by

Thomas T. McGranahan, M.D.

The posthumous autobiography of WLM Careers founding editor B. Raymond Fink, M.D., leads this careers compilation.  Written in the last days of his life, this story reveals a man dedicated to practicing anesthesiology and investigating the origins of human awareness, especially the exploration of scientific theories of consciousness.

The Fink story begins in England, travels to South Africa and Europe, then settles in the United States.  His varied experiences add to a panorama of other selected stories presented in this volume, including personal accounts from anesthesiologists in Japan, Canada and a clinician in private practice.
