Title: Translation of Délibérations de l’Académie de médecine sur la question du magnétisme animal.

Abstract: This work is a translation of a Commission Report on the efficacy of animal magnetism read before the French Academy of Sciences in June 1831. The introduction gives a detailed account of Mesmerism from its founding by Franz Anton Mesmer to its later development in the 1830’s. The Report of the Royal French cademy of Sciences constitutes the main portion of the book. The appendix includes Cohquhoun’s reports on his own experiments on the subject.

General Notes: Due to the controversial nature of animal magnetism at the time, the report was only made in lithographed copies for use of the Academy, and it was never published in French.

General Notes: Digitized by Northern Micrographics July 21, 2011.

General Notes: Colquhoun translated this report and added an introduction and appendix.
