Abstract: Lecture XVII, titled “Management of floorings, with asphyxia,” (p. 224-240) discusses blood transfusion as a therapeutic intervention for hemorrhage. Concerned about both its efficacy and safety, and acknowledging the limited amount of information regarding blood transfusions, Blundell advises that the intervention be used only in emergencies of severe hemorrhage, providing guidelines for its use and advising earnest caution.
