Abstract: A small publication which Morton issued to his patients for general
information on the nature of anesthesia and dentistry. He describes the
two stages of etherization, noting that the first is the “incomplete”
stage which is suitable for dental operation. Morton recounts the
Ether Controversy by citing extracts from the Congressional Report of
January 19, 1849, and communications of his supporters both abroad and
at home. The remainder of the work is devoted to dental issues.
