C. WALTER METZ, M.D.

Dr. C. Walter Metz of Denver, Colorado, assumed the office of President of the ASA at the close
of the meeting in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Metz, a pioneer in the specialty in the Rocky Mountain area has long been active in various
anesthesiological organizations. He has served as chairman of the Section on Anesthesiology of
the American Medical Association and is a past president of the Rocky Mountain Society of
Anesthesiologists. More recently he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the ASA
representing Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri.

With this background of anesthesia organizational leadership he is well qualified to grasp the
reins of the Society and drive a straight course during the coming year.
