Abstract: This is one of the most frequently cited attacks on the Royal Commission’s Report on Animal Magnetism of 1784. Bonnefoy was an ardent supporter of Mesmer and animal magnetism. He was severely rebuked by the Medical Faculty of the University of Paris because of his defense of Mesmer’s theories.
