My Trip to the Hospital

Infants and  young children are a special class of anesthesia patient. Their bodies and minds are different from those of adults in important ways, and their anesthesia requirements differ too.  The anesthesiologists who specialize in caring for these patients understand their need for reassurance in the unfamiliar surroundings of a hospital. Parents also need to know what to expect, and how to prepare their child for the experience. The American Society of Anesthesiologists published My Trip to the Hospital in 1998. It combined a guide for adult care-givers and a coloring book for prospective young patients.
