M.L. SOLKOW, M.D.

Dr. Solkow was born on September 3, 1896. In 1917, he graduated from the Long Island
College Hospital and Medical School. He was a veteran of World War I, having served as a First
Lieutenant with the Army Medical Corps (1918-19).

Elected to the membership of the New York State Society of Anesthetists in 1922, Dr. Solkow
served as Vice President of that organization in 1934. He became President of the New York
State Society of Anesthetists in 1935.

Dr. Solkow was among the first to become a Diplomate of the American Board of
Anesthesiology (Certification number 28), and on December 10, 1936, he became a Fellow of
the American College of Anesthesiologists (Certification number 10). He was also a member of
the International Anesthesia Research Society, the American Medical Association, and the Bronx
County Medical Society.

As an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Solkow served the ASA
in many capacities, including Chairman of the Coordination Committee of the New York State
Section of the ASA in 1941.

Dr. Solkow served as Director of Anesthesiology at Bronx Hospital and Dobbs Ferry Hospital
prior to his retirement.
