STEVENS J. MARTIN, M.D.

Dr. Stevens J. Martin, Hartford, Connecticut, took office as President of the American Society of
Anesthesiologists, at the Annual Meeting of the Society in Seattle, Washington, early in October.

Dr. Martin has served with the American Society of Anesthesiologists in many capacities. He has
been a Director, First Vice President, and for many years has acted as Chairman of the
Committee on Medical Schools and Post-Graduate Education. In the latter capacity, he has, in
addition to his other duties, been a one-man placement bureau for the members of the Society.

The Society is indeed fortunate to have as its leader one who is so conversant with its many
problems and who has demonstrated by his unsparing efforts his willingness to serve the interests
of the specialty.
