Abstract: This work is a collection of the author’s observations of patients. It begins with a brief account on the history of mesmerism. A classification of the subject by its physical and psychological phenomena is then proposed. The author then devotes the greater part of the volume to the observations of sleep, somnambulism, phantasy and phantastic visions. He also discusses specific nerve energies in his critical examination of reported cases of magnetic phenomena.
