Abstract: This work is the English translation of Deluze’s original 1825 work, Instruction pratique sur le magnetisme animal, one of the most popular manuals for the practice of animal magnetism. Deleuze believed that magnetism could be used for therapeutic purposes, such as curing alcoholism and insomnia. In this work, he emphasizes that animal magnetism is intended to help heal patients and should not be performed simply to satisfy curiosity about the phenomenon.
