Title: Historisk udsigt over redningsanstalterne for druknede, pub. in Copenhagen, 1796.

Abstract: Herholdt discusses the theory of artificial respiration and Rafn
describes the practical aspects. The theory and technique expounded by
these Danish physicians reflected modern practice of artificial
respiration by anesthesiologists more than a century and a half later.
The authors advocate restoration of an obstructed airway through
adequate artificial respiration of the apnoeic victim and mouth to
mouth resuscitation by intermittent inflation of victim’s lungs with
expired air.
