Abstract: Richard Lower describes transfusion experiments conducted to determine
whether animal-to-animal transfusion was safe. He concludes from these
experiments that transfusion did not change the nature of the receiving
animal. Rather, he theorizes that transfusion of blood to a sick
animal could possibly be life-saving.

General Notes: The year printed on the first page of Philosophical Transactions,
volume 1, number 22, February 11 is likely a typesetting error. The
year should be 1667 rather than 1666. On the colophon of number 22 is
printed the following text: “In the SAVOY, Printed by T. N. for John
Martyn, and James Allestry, Printers to the Royal Society: And are to
be sold at their Shop without Temple-Bar, and in Duck-lane, 1667.”
